DRIVE FROM THE UK
It is about a 7 hour drive from Dover, it is best not to take the route through Paris but to travel via Rouen, Chartres, Orleon, then down to Limoges and Brive, then on to Beaulieu and Astaillac. The satnav suggests it takes half an hour longer than the route through Paris, but we have found that it takes about the same time as the sat nav doesn't allow for hold ups in Paris. Also, it is about 20Euros cheaper for the motorway tolls. The last time I did this route it cost about 24 Euros in tolls. In a car it will be around 120Euros in fuel (August 2012).
Driving Directions from Beaulieu
From Beaulieu Sur Dordogne take the D41 (Av Lobbe) towards Puybrun. Starting in the main square where the tourist information is located. Drive for about 3km along the side of the Dordogne. You will then see a signposted right turn 2km to Astaillac Drive up the hill and you will arrive in the main square of Astaillac with the church on your left, Rue des Melons is on your right, this is a narrow little lane, drive up this for about 300metres, and you will see "Briance" on the left. The shutters are painted eggshell blue and there is a turreted pigioneer. The car park is just to the side of property.
There are fast Trains from Paris Austerlitz every hour or so to Brive, journey time about 4 hrs around £40 each way. Or about 7hrs from Calais to Brive about £65 each way. You get the best prices if you book 3-4 months in advance. We will collect you at no charge, from the train station which is about 35 mins from Astaillac.www.raileurope.co.uk
